UK troops are now using a special application developed for the iPad in order to learn how to handle a fire mission, when artillery is fired at the enemy from several miles away.
The Royal School of Artillery in Wiltshire have taken part in early trials, where troops are said to have learnt the jargon and the correct procedures more quickly than before when they were taught in static lessons.
Whilst saving on print costs, the iPad app allows soldiers to learn how to communicate with those on the front line, to ensure that the correct weapons are fired at the right time and at the right target.
It is thought that smartphone and tablet technology could be used to accelerate the speed of training across the army.
A 3D app for army pilots who have to learn to recognise different vehicles from the air is also currently being developed.

Wonderful! It’s brilliant that the iPad is able to help in this way – it’s very effective as a training solution. I have spent a long time looking for the best navy prt training system and now I think I have got something here. FYI, there is another article out there which is also helpful to those wishing to train but this time it is for the navy: http://navy-prt-training.learnmoreskills.com. Hope you will be interested in it too.
