BigHand Goes Mobile

BigHand are well known as market leaders in Digital Dictation, with their software used in over 400 law firms.

Directors from both Total and BigHand initially met at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium in Florida – an annual event organised by RIM which brings together developers, application providers and IT professionals to discover the very latest trends and developments in the world of BlackBerry. With a shared vision and ethos, as well as a commitment to delivering excellence in the customer experience, we have been working closely together ever since.

In July, BigHand were involved in our own Mobile Data for the Legal Profession event and at their own recent Annual User Conference, mobility was once again high on the agenda, with the launch of the BigHand3 Mobility Suite.

The new BigHand3 Mobility Suite provides users with a bundle of four instant mobility tools that enable networked digital dictation while out of the office, including BlackBerry dictation, Telephony Dictation, Email Gateway and Web Client (the latter two modules working with Windows Mobile). Furthermore the suite potentially removes the need for every user to carry specialist dictation hardware, and provides an additional cost benefit for the firm.

As BigHand’s exclusive telecoms partner, Total were busy at the User Conference, running a number of joint mobile data sessions. These interactive demonstrations proved extremely popular with delegates, who were able to see the modules in action and discuss the way they worked with both BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices.

Steve Butterworth, CEO & President of BigHand, Inc. explains: ‘Mobility is an area we are seeing law firms increasingly focus on, with our voice tools enabling greater connectivity and expediting document production while on the move. Due to the immediate transfer of voice back to the office, legal documents are being provided to clients quicker than ever. Together with the other mobility tools in the BigHand suite, such as EmailGateway, our clients are set for a new level of ‘on-the-go’ productivity.’

‘The use of mobile data is well established in the legal industry, and many firms already champion this technology’ agrees Total MD, Stuart Baikie. ‘With fee earners spending a large proportion of time away from their desks, secure solutions such as BlackBerry provide undeniable commercial benefits, whilst helping users to provide improved levels of client service. Return on investment can be achieved almost instantaneously.’
