Total's Lauren Hanks takes the title of Outstanding Apprentice in 2012 Gloucestershire Apprentice Awards.
Lauren Hanks from Cheltenham based Telecoms company Total Ltd (Total) has been named Outstanding Apprentice of the year in the Financial and Business Services sector of the Gloucestershire Apprentice Awards 2012.
Individually selected from a shortlist of finalists, Lauren was presented with her accolade at a gala awards event, attended by guest of honour the Princess Royal, at The Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse, on April 4.
Whilst studying for her A-Levels, Lauren maintained her interest in Business but quickly realised that the number of University graduates obtaining suitable jobs in their chosen sector was extremely low due, she felt, to excessive applications for the same vacancy and the lack of work experience possessed by many.
This prompted Lauren to apply for a Business and Admin NVQ level 2 BTEC Apprenticeship; she hasn't looked back.
Lauren Hanks, Service Administrator at Total Ltd commented:
'It is an honour to have won such an esteemed award. I hope that I can now be used as an example for prospective apprentices and other businesses out there, to showcase how successful apprenticeships can be.'
Lauren joined Total in 2010 and, as Service Administrator, she focuses on a range of administrative tasks as well as customer service account management for high value clients.
Looking to the future, Lauren aims to continue her studies by obtaining a degree through the Open University on a business management course, enabling her to study for a further relevant qualification whilst continuing to gain employment experience.
Stuart Baikie, Managing Director at Total Ltd said:
'I know I speak on behalf of the team at Total when I say we are all delighted for Lauren. To be recognised as an Outstanding Apprentice is a just reward for her consistent hard work and professionalism. Lauren is set to go far and we are very proud that she is part of our team.'
